Bohemian vegan wedding in Ljubljana

Their wedding story began months ago. On an idyllic southern island Neža and Erazem pledged eternal love for the first time in an intimate company of two wedding guests.
Afterwards they repeated their vows in the presence of their wedding guests, this time in the most beautiful Plečnik’s st. Mihael Church in Črna vas on Barje, very close to Ljubljana.

But this was not the only special feature of their wedding. They undertook their wedding preparations on their own with the help of their friends and family. They managed to create a unique atmosphere that was reflected at every step of their happy day. Almost everything that you see in the photos – the bride’s and groom’s outfit, decorations, food, flowers… – was made by skillful transformations of things one can buy in stores or they created them according to their imagination. The thrill before the wedding day was therefore much more genuine.
I first met Neža and Erazem in Trnovo at the famous staircase along the Ljubljanica River.

The idea was that Trnovo should be the starting point of the photo narration of love which rises when two soulmates meet. But the time passed so quickly that we hardly managed to reach the town centre. So we turned round and drove to Barje. To the church that seems to be created for grand and deep vows. Entering the church one gets overwhelmed by the greatness of Plečnik’s architectural mind. Elements of wood, stained glass, accomplished details… fascinating. Neža and Erazem got merged with that special beauty. When looking through the photos now, it seems that these two persons were created for that special idyllic ambience. When the wedding ceremony started, everything stopped. The words touched the hearts, the music opened them. And when out of the tense silence a cincere “YES” was uttered, the tears flowed freely…

I awaited the sunset together with Neža and Erazem in the meadow behind the church. The air was filled with the scent of late summer grass, the sounds of the wedding guests floating in the background and barely recognizable traces of the civilisation were passing by. It was mystical.

The wedding reception and party was held in the guesthouse Star Maln near Vrhnika, embraced by the forest, situated by a pond, in the gleam of lamps and candles. It was an unusual choice of a wedding reception venue but it was a great success. In complete privacy and in full compliance with the newlyweds’ wishes the wedding reception turned into a genuine party of good friends. Well, for me it was also a great discovery that a vegan feast can be an abundance of tastes, colours and feelings.

A great wedding, unforgettable not only for Neža and Erazem.
